Why East Asia, why now?

Different markets. Shared questions.

How does an idea become a business? Who adopts a new technology first? What changes when a company crosses a border? We study these questions through individual companies, not sweeping regional predictions.

Taiwan & Japan

We start with the founder and university communities closest to us. Studying industrial technology, software and customer needs side by side helps us ask better questions about both markets.

Korea & Singapore

We want to understand how companies find early customers and expand beyond their home market. Local evidence matters more than a single story about the region.

Across Southeast Asia

Different languages, regulations and routes to market deserve individual attention. Cross-border relationships help young founders test assumptions rather than export them unchanged.

Our methodology

A clear thesis. Evidence you can question.

  1. 01

    Founder-level questions

Start with the customer, the problem and the reasons this team might solve it. Do not assume access to founders or private company data.

  2. 02

    Traceable public sources

Link to the public material behind an argument. Publication is not independent verification of every company claim.

  3. 03

    Independent judgment

Separate what a company says from what we think. AI can assist research, but it does not replace editorial judgment.

  4. 04

    Business models

Use the Lean Canvas to expose assumptions about customers, distribution, revenue and costs.

  5. 05

    Investment hypotheses

State why a business could matter and what could invalidate that view. Research is not investment advice.

  6. 06

    Explicit uncertainty

Date the evidence, name the gaps and distinguish facts, claims and inference. Revisit the thesis as new information appears.
